U18
Winners of the PHYL Cup
In a dramatic final, played at Winklebury, the Hampshire County FA facilities, the Whites met Basingstoke Town U16. In the league it had been impossible to separate these 2 sides. They finished in joined 2nd place on exactly the same number of points.
The first half was very much dominated by Basy and they went into a 1-0 lead but the successful conversion of a penalty awarded to Salisbury changed the picture somewhat. The half time team talk must have been very effective because the Whites came out all guns blazing with Basy chasing the game now.
The winning goal for Salisbury came from a corner and after another 20 minutes or so the final whistle confirmed Salisbury as the winners.
A bit more about us
The U18 are a team who have largely been together since they were U7s at the club. They are lucky to have 3 coaching staff and hugely supportive parents. The team are all great friends together, which makes managing them very easy and they have a great work ethic which keeps the team playing at a very high standard.
After the Salisbury FC end of season tournament which saw the teams reach the semi-finals the main job this Summer has been learning the art of the 11-a-side game. The team has responded brilliantly and have taken to it extremely well.

Andy has been involved with SCYFC since his son began playing for Paul Corfield’s side at the age of 6 but his experience with coaching reaches back to coaching schoolboy sides as a young teacher before being invited to run the Aldershot and Farnborough District teams. From there he went on to select, coach and manage boys’ county teams for Hampshire Schools’ FA and girls’ teams for Surrey Schools’ FA, before being approached to help with the England Schools FA in the 90s.
